Corporate identity & website. Drawing identity through design and pulling a star out of the spirit of racing.
When in 2016 Michael Sakowicz – CEO-Geschäftsführer of Stohl Racing GmbH, owned by Austrian rally driver Manfred Stohl, was in charge of establishing a subsidiary, he reached out for our consultation. We came up with a number of names, but STARD is the one that stuck. STARD stands for Stohl Advanced Research and Development, and really suits this highly-skilled research and development company. While the success of Stohl Racing’s brand lies in the Rally and Racing industries, exposing some of the better know aspects of STARD’s activities, STARD actually has engaged in an array of projects operating in fields across the spectrum of technology-driven businesses. Regardless, the core of STARD is its team of accomplished and uncompromisingly dedicated engineers, which enable the company to act as an „R&D Task Force“ solely focused on servicing their customers. With a specialized interest in sports car engineering, the logotype for STARD had to reflect the competitive spirit of motorsports. Starting with the sporty lettering and the forward lean, we moved to the star integrated into the text derived from the “star” in the company name. What we came away with was an edgy and dynamic logotype that typifies the spirit of car racing.
